Basteria

Profile

Basteria is the scientific journal of the Netherlands Malacological Society. It is published six times a year in two volumes. In Basteria, original articles are published about malacological subjects like taxonomics, systematics, fauna-surveys, (palaeo)ecology, (palaeo)biogeography, the way of life of molluscs, anatomy, book reviews, etc. Articles are reviewed by an editorial board of prominent malacologists and can be offered by members as well as non-members. Basteria is mainly published in English.

The name of the Journal is related to the famous scientist of the 18th century, Mr. Job Baster.

Editors

The editorial staff of Basteria consists of Dr. E. Gittenberger (editor in chief), Dr. B. Kokshoorn (lay-out redacteur/editor) and G.C. Kronenberg (editor). Other editors involved with Basteria are: Dr. F. Wesselingh, Dr. G. Vermeij, Dr. G. van der Velde, Dr. A.C. van Bruggen and Dr. Th.C.M. Kemperman.

Basteria Supplement 3 (2006) On the occasion of the 90th birthday of the well known malacologist and NMV member Mr. Hans Kuiper, a special supplement to Basteria was published. The index is printed below. All articles were dedicated to Hans Kuiper and the publication was financed by special gifts of the members of the NMV. During the annual meeting held on 8 April, 2006, the first hard cover print was presented to Hans Kuiper by the president of the NMV, Mr. Ruud Bank. He gratefully accepted the supplement with thanks to the autors and the editors. The special editors responsible for this supplement were Rob Moolenbeek, Jeroen Goud en Henny Coomans.
Separate issues can be ordered via the librarian of the NMV, Rob Moolenbeek. The price, excluding postage, is 15.00 euro (soft cover) or 25.00 euro (hard cover).
